Lithuania ready to step up involvement in migrant rescue missions, president says

“We, Lithuania, can increase our participation in rescue missions. This is what we are currently discussing,” she told journalists during her visit to the town of Dotnuva, central Lithuania. “If there’s a need for humanitarian assistance, we will also be ready to get involved based on our capabilities. Not a single EU member state can stay aside.”

According to Grybauskaitė, the crisis surrounding the inflow of immigrants has both social and financial aspects, and it’s also “a problem of relations with North African countries.”
