Dalia Dzimidienė of the country’s Migration Department said the processing of four requests was discontinued as the applicants had left Lithuania, and the remaining requests are being processed.
“All information related to the submission and processing of asylum requests is confidential. Asylum requests are submitted for various reasons and each of them is processed individually by taking into account all circumstances, including the political situation, security, social and human rights in the applicant’s country of origin,” Dzimidienė said.
In comparison, Lithuania received five asylum requests from Ukrainian citizens last year. One of them was granted asylum and three received additional protection. In 2012, there were five requests. Two Ukrainians then were granted asylum and two got additional protection.
