Viktoras Mongirdas, senior specialist at the agency’s International Programs Division, told BNS that NASA would later shorten the list to two candidates at most.
“We recommended three, NASA will pick a maximum of two,” Mongirdas said on Monday.
The students will have access to NASA infrastructure and resources, as well as gain experience through cooperation with researchers and engineers.
The selected university students will be interns at NASA’s Ames research centre in Palo Alto, California. The internship should start on August 31 and end on December 18.
The selected interns from across the globe will work on specific research projects, with the possibility of contributing to advanced scientific research and creation of space technologies.
