Sixty-seven MPs voted for the decree On the Application of the Daylight Saving Time in Lithuania, five voted against with 28 abstentions.
The Parliament has also suggested that the Government charge state institutions with analysing the impact of the time switching on health, energy, transport, environment, tourism and agriculture. The public should be polled regarding the application of the daylight saving time as well.
The document notes that from the perspective of health, it would be best for Lithuanians if time suited the country’s geographic location and time zone.
The EU’s directive on summer-time arrangements is reviewed every five years. It will be next revised in late 2016.
