Lithuania to export beef to Egypt

Minister of Agriculture Virginija Baltraitienė said that livestock farming is one of priorities of the agricultural sector. The minister added that Lithuanian products have always been highly recognised in international markets, while Egypt’s decision over beef is a great example that Lithuania can enter the so far little-known markets.

The State Food and Veterinary Service intends to invite Egyptian officials in the nearest future to discuss all the necessary procedures. According to specialists, Lithuanian slaughterhouses must obtain certificates confirming conformity to Halal standards. Lithuanian Muftiate, Spiritual Centre of the Lithuanian Sunni Muslims, also has to issue Halal certificates for Lithuanian produce.
