Lithuanian and Russian historians stop cooperation due to Ukraine war

“Everything came to a halt immediately after the war started in Ukraine. Clearly, historians cannot do anything in this atmosphere and any work is simply impossible. In the current international situation, historians are under extensive pressure and cannot do free work. When communicating with our Russian colleagues, we saw we could no longer be just historians,” says one of the chairmen of the Lithuanian-Russian Historical Commission, Alvydas Nikžentaitis.

In his words, operations of an analogous Latvian-Russian Historical Commission have been suspended for the same reasons.
