Lithuanian Defence Ministry advises public what to do in case of war

The advice was given during the presentation on Tuesday of a special publication on preparation for emergency situations and wartime. It has been produced by the ministry in cooperation with the army and the Fire and Rescue Department.

“After Russia repeated aggression against neighbours, this time in Ukraine, the need emerged to not only know how to act during the organization of civil resistance, but also how to act under battlefield conditions,” Olekas told journalists.

In his words, this kind of information is important when we observe hybrid war cases when “there are a number of elements that might vary and resemble civil-life situations.”

The publication gives information on what changes could be expected in the country following mobilization. It also provides practical advice for the public on what to do in case of various emergencies and in case of failed evacuation.

Following comments and amendments by specialists, the publication of almost 100 pages will be distributed in secondary schools, libraries and through non-governmental organizations. The online version of the publication should be published on the ministry’s website on Monday.
