Lithuanian Defence Minstry representative calls for review of EU cooperation with Eastern partners

According to Vaidotas Urbelis, the recently signed Association Agreements with Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine are opening up new opportunities for strengthening security and defense cooperation with these countries, the Defence Ministry said in a press release on Saturday.

“We are determined to intensify cooperation in the military field with the Eastern Partnership countries in developing the EU Common Security and Defence Policy,” the policy director said.

Urbelis also underlined the need for strengthening cooperation and interaction between the EU and NATO as one of the key priorities of the Common Security and Defence Policy, particularly in the wake of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine.
