Lithuanian EC candidate to discuss his duties with Juncker on Thursday

Andriukaitis, a member of the ruling Social Democratic Party, told BNS the meeting with Juncker was scheduled for Thursday. He said he had prepared his priorities, but refused to elaborate on them.

“I have a line of priorities. If you followed the speech made by Juncker at the European Parliament, there are entirely new ideas: he has a right to envisage his own positions and line-ups. Therefore, I do not want to give any comment before I meet him,” Andriukaitis said.

Andriukaitis was proposed for the post by the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, which has the largest political group in the national parliament. The candidate was endorsed by parliament and President Dalia Grybauskaitė.
