“There’s no contraction risk for absolutely all people, especially in areas without recorded cases. Contraction cases have only been recorded in three African countries of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. The risk of contraction in a community is very very low as contraction takes place only through contact with an infected person’s blood, urine, saliva or during the preparation, laying out of burial of a deceased person. There’s no risk of contraction in public transport or a shop where there are no infected people,” the specialist said.
In response to the Ebola outbreak in Western Africa, Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly recommends against travelling to Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone where over 1,400 people have already contracted Ebola and more than 800 died.
