Lithuanian foreign minister calls for implementation of NATO’s Wales decisions

“It is important to promptly and smoothly implement the decisions taken in Wales. This has a great significance to transatlantic security and the Baltic Sea region. It is necessary to constantly ensure that the Alliance is ready to address the security challenges it might face,” said Linkevičius.

According to a press release circulated by the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry, the two officials discussed the implementation of the decisions on the measures of collective defense taken at NATO summit in Wales and the implementation of a Readiness Action Plan, as well as the Alliance’s adaptation to the new security environment.

The minister noted the important role of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in planning exercises, in establishing command and control elements, and in developing Very High Readiness Joint Task Force.
