Linkevičius emphasized he sees no reasons for revising the current policies or easing the sanctions for Russia, which the West has accused of providing support to separatists in Eastern Ukraine. In his words, the ceasefire was used to reinforce the separatists, which Linkevičius described as “terrorist groups.”
Relations with Russia and efforts against international terrorism will top the agenda of the meeting of EU foreign ministers.
The meeting is not expected to result in any specific decisions in connection to the sanctions, as decisions on the sanctions that were launched a year ago should be made in March and July this year.
