Lithuanian government and entrepreneurs set up expert group to search for new export markets

“We agreed to set up a target group of experts that will analyse information and submit proposals to the Economic Diplomacy Council about representation of our country, appointment of economic advisers to certain regions, organization of business missions and visits by top-ranking officials,” Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius told BNS after the agreement was made on Monday.

In his words, the team will be headed by a representative of the Lithuanian Industrialists Confederation and will include people from the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economy and Agriculture, as well as the public agency Enterprise Lithuania.

The meeting at the Foreign Ministry was also attended by Economy Minister Evaldas Gustas and president of the Industrialists Confederation, Robertas Dargis.

The discussions about the need to find new exports markets intensified after Russia restricted imports of food products and agricultural produce in response to Western sanctions.

Earlier this month, Lithuania announced receipt of permits from Hong Kong to import Lithuanian dairy and poultry production. In August, exports of Lithuanian meat, fisheries and dairy production was repeatedly allowed into Lebanon and Serbia.
