Lithuanian government greenlights plan to fight alcoholism

The measures include increasing penalties for drinking alcohol in public places and prevention programmes targeting children and youth.

The government has also agreed to step up control of alcohol sales and develop special rehabilitation programmes for drunk drivers and perpetrators of other alcohol-induced offences.

As of November this year, all alcoholic beverages will have to bear warnings about alcohol’s harm to pregnant women.
