Lithuanian interior minister inspects refugee accommodation facilities

In Rukla, the minister inspected the living premises and the territory intended for the refugees, inquiring about their routines and integration challenges.

At a meeting with Jonava Mayor Mindaugas Sinkevičius, the minister said he understood the concerns of some of the members of the society about hosting the refugees, particularly the fears of Rukla residents, the Interior Ministry said in a press release.

“It is important to note that Lithuania and its communications officers will be actively involved in the refugee selection process. Our main objective is to make sure and receive persons who constitute no threat to national or domestic security. Furthermore, we will do our best that the hosted persons are of similar religion, culture and customs. This will make it easier for them to adapt and integrate,” Skvernelis said in the press release.
