Carrying out the investigation, STT officers found and collected two blood samples. Tests of one sample showed that its blood alcohol content was 1 per thousand, however alcohol was not found in the second sample.
Investigating the suspected attempt to conceal Gineikaitė’s intoxication, STT questioned Director of Kaunas Clinical Hospital Gediminas Abeciūnas and his deputy Kastytis Grigonis as special witnesses.
STT’s investigation is headed and coordinated by the Organised Crimes and Corruption Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General‘s Office. Kaunas Clinical Hospital launched an inquiry as well.
As reported previously, at the scene of the road traffic accident Gineikaitė had to undergo a breathalyser test which showed 1.66 per thousand alcohol content. She arrived to give a blood test in the hospital nearly four hours after the accident.
On 28 December Gineikaitė handed in her resignation to Agriculture Minister Virginija Baltraitienė.
