Lithuanian Jews to hold annual conference, opponents to stage protest

Meanwhile opponents of Faina Kukliansky, chair of the Community, will hold a protest outside its headquarters.

A Vilnius court ruled last December that Kukliansky had been unlawfully re-elected the Community’s chair as the number of votes given to the Jewish Community of Vilnius were unfoundedly restricted on the eve of the vote.

The ruling was later appealed, and also several other judicial proceedings are taking place simultaneously, including an appeal against the election of Simonas Gurevičius, Kukliansky’s critic, as chair of the Jewish Community of Vilnius.
