Lithuanian Justice Ministry offers confidentiality guarantees for people reporting corruption

Sergejus Muravjovas, the leader of the anti-corruption NGO Transparency International, has welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that legislators will ensure additional protection for individuals who report corruption or offences.

Under the proposed changes, institutions that receive information about corruption or offences of employees of the public sector would have to ensure protection of the reporting person’s personal data. The changes also envisage ways of ensuring this during trials.
