Lithuanian MEP to produce report on EU-Russian relations

“The report is called “European-Russian relations in the background of the Ukrainian crisis”. The report name says that the war in Ukraine has fundamentally changed EU-Russian relations and they need to be re-evaluated. This is what the report is going to be about,” Landsbergis told BNS on Wednesday.

In his words, the report will focus on the current state of EU-Russian relations in many areas, including politics, economy, energy, etc. The drafters of the document will also have to provide recommendations on communication with Russia.

Drafting of the report may take up to six months.

“I’m going to involve the best Lithuanian and European experts,” the Lithuanian MEP said.

The report will be then discussed by the Committee on Foreign Affairs and endorsed by the European Parliament.

“It means that once it is adopted and endorsed, it will become an opinion of the whole Parliament on EU-Russian relations. It’s a legal document and a political line for the European Commission as well,” Landsbergis said.
