Lithuanian MP proposes to allow charging all tourists

MP Juras Požela has registered a proposal to introduce local charge on all tourists, except children aged 7 and younger, for the use of public recreational and tourism infrastructure of residential areas.

“Overnight accommodations fees are introduced in Lithuanian resorts (Druskininkai, Palanga); as a result the introduction of the Law on Fees and Charges in other municipalities as well should not give rise to any negative consequences. It is a customary practice in many foreign countries and should not constitute any inconvenience to incoming tourists,” says MP Požela.
