Conservative and Liberal MPs want to identify physical and legal entities owning more than 200 hectares of farmland in Lithuania, as well as establish cases when large areas of farmland are acquired and accumulated by individuals engaged in no agricultural activities themselves, not living in Lithuania and “having nothing to do with agriculture whatsoever.”
The parliamentary probe would also look into fertilizer imports and other questions recently asked to Karbauskis in connection to the operations of his company Agrokoncernas.
The proposal is that the commission should include 13 members authorized to handle classified information. Gabrielius Landsbergis, the leader of the opposition conservative Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats, told BNS collection of signatures under the inquiry initiative should be started shortly.
