The vice-president of the European Commission has noted that an Extraordinary Home Affairs Council will be held on 22 September to primarily focus on resettlement issues. A regular meeting between the interior ministers has been scheduled to take place in October.

According to Butkevičius, Ukraine takes necessary measures to comply with the Minsk Agreements, but it is also very important to encourage internal reforms in that country, setting realistic goals within a realistic time-frame.
The head of Government has also highlighted the need for strengthened strategic communications through improved dissemination of information and unanimous response on the part of the EU member states in cases of misinformation.
