He was previously pushed to the third spot by Ramūnas Karbauskis, the leader of the Peasant and Greens Union which currently does not hold elected offices in government.
“Butkevičius ranks second, well ahead of Karbauskis,” social scientist Vladas Gaidys told BNS.
Butkevičius also ranks second in the list of politicians seen as best representing people’s interest with the approval score of 10.9%.
Meanwhile, Peasant and Green Union’s leader Ramūnas Karbauskis, who caught up with Butkevičius last month, slid to No 3 spot in June with the popularity score of 41.7%.
President Dalia Grybauskaitė continues to top the rankings with the popularity score of 54.8%. She is also seen as best representing people’s interest, with the score of 17.5%.
The top five of most popular politicians also includes Kaunas mayor Visvaldas Matijošaitis, who ranks fourth with the score of 37.7% (up from 31.7% in May), and Social Democratic Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius, who ranks fifth with 36.3% (down from 37.9%).
