Lithuanian president’s adviser: EU should avoid giving impression of retreat under Russian pressure

It’s also important to make visa decisions for people as it will facilitate travelling for them, she added.

“When the summit took place in Vilnius, a decision was made to introduce a visa-free regime for Moldova. We really hope we’ll be able to do that for Georgia now, and for other countries, travelling will be facilitated considerably or made cheaper, if a visa-free agreement is not possible,” she told the Žinių Radijas news radio on Tuesday morning.

According to Neliupšienė, the EU needs to finalize the ratification of the association agreements with Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia before the summit, and also try to send a message of support for those countries by defining their further and more ambitious ties with the EU.

The EU Eastern Partnership summit will take place in Riga on 21-22 May.
