Lithuanian prime minister says no VAT cuts

“We have a consensus that the VAT rate should not be lowered. This is a consumption tax and if some believe that this would provide a boost and would be of great help to processors or producers of agricultural products, it has to be understood that Lithuania is a small and open country and that food products from other countries are imported to our country as well,” he told reporters after meeting with Seimas Speaker Loreta Graužinienė.

There are other ways to respond to Russia‘s latest import ban, Butkevičius said.
