“This question was removed from the agenda and will not be considered in this Seimas session,” Graužinienė told reporters on Tuesday.
Seimas opposition leader, conservative Andrius Kubilius thinks that the party’s proposal to ammend the Criminal Code is absurd. “These proposals are ridiculous, but it seems that they have been crossed out from the agenda,” he said.
MP Valdas Vasiliauskas (Order and Justice party) proposed to scrap punishment for individuals who directly or indirectly offered, promised or agreed to give a bribe, while punishment would be reserved only for actual bribing. Sanctions would be applied only to the person who gave or accepted a bribe, while the notions “directly or indirectly offered, promised or agreed to give” and “directly or indirectly promised or agreed to accept a bribe” would be crossed out from the Criminal Code article.
As reported, the Special Investigation Service (STT) in October carried out several searches in the offices of the Order and Justice party in order to obtain substantial data on the suspected large-scale trading in influence (over LTL 32,500/EUR 9,400).
