Lithuanian services could not afford Italian spying equipment

According to the report, the Italians also offered to Lithuanian institutions to put a dozen of people in Lithuania under surveillance for EUR 345,000 per year.

The leaked documents from Italian firm Hacking Team showed that the Italians were looking for contact with Lithuanian officers with the help of Markas Marcinkevičius, the then head of IT Consulting, part of the Penki Kontinentai group, and former investigator of e-crimes, as well as Gedion executive Gedalijus Britaniškinas.
