Beacons installed by retailers communicate with consumers devices and apps as they move around stores and shopping centres using a Bluetooth low energy beacon which provides location-based, timely and contextualised information.
Lithuanian start-up, Sems Technologies, founded by Kaunas University of Technology graduate Paulius Lenvenis, which won approval from Google, develops intelligent embedded systems for the Internet of Things with its first product a “People Traffic Management” solution.
With Internet-connected Semseye devices installed on their premises, the company says retailers, and real estate owners such as shopping malls, airports, bus and train stations can track and analyse consumers’ behaviour.
It also makes possible for retailers to provide targeted information to customers throughout their stores and/or public areas via their interactive stands, mobiles, PCs and tablets and then deliver cloud-based analytics and content such as weather forecasts, marketing, campaigns, loyalty or social programs.
“We are happy that our products get recognition from the world’s biggest companies. Right now, we have a vision together with Google Beacon to use technology and digitize the physical human world, that is, to calculate and analyse flows of people at various places in real time,” said Sems Technologies director Andrius Ojeras in a statement.
“This data will be become even more accessible to final consumers – shopping mall managers, city councils, metropolitans,” he said.
There are only 22 certified Google Beacon manufacturers globally.
