The conference was attended by the Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Transportation and Communications Arijandas Šliupas. Vice-Minister presented Lithuanian transport policy, the most important projects “Rail Baltica“, ”Viking “, ”Saulė” and other opportunities for cooperation. The Vice-Minister also emphasized the Swedish and Lithuanian common interest in development of the East-West transport corridor, especially taking into account growing volumes and trade between EU and countries to the east.
The conference was opened by the Mayor of Karlshamn Sven-Ake Svensson, one of the key co-organisers of the event.
The event was also attended by the high representatives from the European Commission, transport and logistics companies DFDS, Finnlines, Team Lines, Volvo, industrial enterprises, carriers, and others.
Presentations on the development of the Lithuanian transport system were made as well by Klaipėda State Seaport Marketing and Corporate Affairs Director Artūras Drungilas and Lithuanian Railways‘ Integration into the European railway network department manager Marius Matulaitis.
