“The decision to revise the color range was due to a few factors. Troops noted that their current green-colored uniforms stand out in non-forested areas, for instance, in the city. The new pattern of the uniforms have been tested by troops of the Special Operations Forces, and their conclusions were followed by a decision to gradually replace the uniforms,” said Lieutenant Colonel Eimantas Juodzevičius, acting commander of the army’s Logistics Board.
In his words, a single uniform can be used for different tasks, with the uniforms to be worn by troops during service in Lithuania and in international operations.
Full replacement of the existing field uniform will take three years.
The Defense Ministry says that the color combination of the new uniform is intended for various tasks during all seasons and in different environments. Tests of the uniforms proved good camouflaging qualities in nature and in urban settings.
The model of the new uniform will be identical to that of the current field uniform, with only the fabric replaced with more durable material.
