Lithuania’s chief veterinary officer ‘should have resigned long ago’ – president

“I consider the situation very bad and think that he should have stepped down a long time ago,” she told BNS.

The president added that the situation pointed to the need for rotation in public institutions.

“The only conclusion I can draw from what is now surfacing and what details are emerging is that there can be no justification for corruption and nepotism and that (the facts about officials) staying in (their posts in) public institutions for too long, which we have been seeing lately, reconfirm the need for rotation,” she said.
