Lithuania’s education minister urges universities to tighten admission requirements

“Admission threshold is necessary if we want to have high quality higher education and be competitive on the international arena,” said Minister of Education and Science Dainius Pavalkis. “Hopefully, higher education institutions will take into account our basic proposal and raise the bar higher, within their capabilities.”

Those who wish to apply for state-funded spots in 2015 will have to pass at least two “Matura examinations”: the Lithuanian language and literature (national-level examination when applying to universities and school-level examination when applying to colleges) and a foreign language national-level examination.
