Lithuania’s extra-EU exports down 19 percent

In January-February 2015, Lithuania’s intra-EU imports of goods amounted to EUR 2.3 billion, down 2 percent compared with January-February 2014. Meanwhile extra-EU imports of goods amounted to EUR 1.3 billion, down 5 percent compared with January-February 2014.

Consequently, Lithuania’s trade balance resulted in a deficit of -EUR 0.4 billion in January-February 2015. Whereas in January-February 2014, Lithuania’s trade deficit was at -EUR 0.3 billion.

The first estimate for euro area exports of goods to the rest of the world in February 2015 was EUR 160.7 billion, an increase of 4 percent compared with February 2014 (EUR 154.4 bn). Imports from the rest of the world stood at EUR 140.5 bn, nearly stable compared with February 2014 (EUR 140.0 bn). As a result, the euro area recorded a EUR 20.3 billion surplus in trade in goods with the rest of the world in February 2015, compared with +EUR 14.4 billion in February 2014. Intra-euro area trade rose to EUR 135.9 billion in February 2015, +1 percent compared with February 2014, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, said.

In January to February 2015, euro area exports of goods to the rest of the world rose to EUR 308.5 billion (an increase of 2 percent compared with January-February 2014), while imports fell to EUR 280.6 billion (a decrease of 3 percent compared with January-February 2014). As a result the euro area recorded a surplus of EUR 27.9 billion, compared with +EUR14.5 billion in January-February 2014. Intra-euro area trade fell to EUR 267.1 billion in January-February 2015, -2 percent compared with January-February 2014.

The first estimate for extra-EU exports of goods in February 2015 was EUR 138.2 billion, up 2 percent compared with February 2014 (EUR 135.9 bn). Imports from the rest of the world stood at EUR 134.8 billion, up 3 percent compared with February 2014 (EUR 131.1 bn). As a result, the EU recorded a EUR 3.4 billion surplus in trade in goods with the rest of the world in February 2015, compared with +EUR 4.9 in February 2014. Intra-EU trade rose to EUR 244.9 billion in February 2015, +3 percent compared with February 2014.

In January-February 2015, extra-EU exports of goods remained nearly stable at EUR 265.0 billion, while imports fell to EUR 272.5 billion (a decrease of 1 percent compared to January-February 2014). As a result, the EU recorded a deficit of EUR 7.5 billion, compared with -EUR 9.4 billion in January-February 2014. Intra-EU trade remained nearly stable at EUR 481.0 billion in January-February 2015.
