Lithuania’s Linkevičius to attend EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting on emerging threats

Defence ministers will also be present in part of the meeting, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry said.

Linkevičius will attend a dinner of foreign and defence ministers with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, which will address security threats emerging close to the EU.

A joint ministerial working session later in the day will discuss preparations for the June 25-26 session of the European Council on security and defence matters. Other items on the agenda will include efforts against illegal migration to prevent further deaths in the Mediterranean Sea. The last issue on the agenda of the Lithuanian foreign minister – the Middle East peace process.

During the stay in Brussels, Linkevičius will also meet with his Ukrainian counterpart, Pavlo Klimkin, and Serbia‘s Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic.
