Alcohol consumption per person aged 15 years and over shrank by 0.3 liters to 14.9 liters, the statistics office said.
The production of spirits, as measured in absolute alcohol, increased by 3.1 percent in 2014 compared with 2013 to 11 million liters while the production of fermented beverages was down by 5.2 percent to 67 million liters.
Spirits sales last year increased by 0.7 percent to 37 million liters. Wine and fermented beverage sales fell by 5.6 percent to 67 million liters, while beer sales rose by 3.5 percent to 278 million liters.
Retail prices for alcoholic beverages last year rose by 1.6 percent on average as a result of an increase in the excise duty rate on April 1.
