After visiting the January 13 Memorial outside the parliament building with Parliamentary Speaker Viktoras Pranckietis and MPs, the senator made an address to Lithuanian and US troops present in the event.
“I thank you for your service, thank you for your sacrifice. Twenty-five years ago obviously was a great moment in the history of this wonderful and great nation. Again, you may be called to serve, because there is a threat, there is resurgent Russia with the eager who wants to restore the Russian Empire,” McCain said in his speech.
“And we will be relying on you to defend this nation and convince everyone who wants to violate Lithuania’s sovereignty that we are prepared to defend,” said the US senator.
At the same time, he emphasized that the best way of avoiding conflict is to be ready that every potential aggressor understands that the price is too high.
