In a statement issued after meeting with Prime Minister-designate Saulius Skvernelis on Wednesday, Pagojus thanked President Dalia Grybauskaitė and Skvernelis for the confidence they showed toward him.
“Unfortunately, seeing that the uproar over my past mistake is hampering and will hamper the new government, particularly the Justice Ministry, which is very important to me, from starting its work normally, I have asked the prime minister-designate to cancel my nomination as justice minister in the 17th government,” he said.
