On September 11, NATO fighter jets identified and intercepted three An-26 military transport aircraft of the Russian Federation, Lithuania’s Ministry of National Defence said on Monday.
All the three aircraft were flying according to pre-filed flight plans, were not using their onboard transponders but maintained radio communication with air traffic control centers.
A Hungarian contingent is currently stationed in Lithuania as part of the NATO air policing mission, and German jets are deployed in Estonia.
