Neverovič might be nominated for energy minister again, his party says

“One cannot discount the possibility that after 25 August, the prime minister will once again propose Neverovič for energy minister, after reaching agreement with the LLRA,” the party said in a statement.

It followed the prime mnister’s and President Dalia Grybauskaitė’s decision to dismiss Neverovič from the post. The move came in response to Neverovič re-appointing his controversial fellow party member Renata Cytacka as energy vice-minister despite the prime minister’s objection.

Under the presidential decree, Neverovič will be dismissed as of 25 August.

The LLRA statement said “the issue is not finally resolved and other decisions might be made by 25 August.”

“Under the coalition agreement signed in November 2012, the LLRA has the right to appoint the energy minister, one energy vice-minister as well as vice-ministers of education, agriculture and transport. Nobody has the right to change the coalition agreement: neither the president, nor leaders of the political parties (even of the largest one) that formed the ruling coalition. Its can only be done by the coalition’s political council,” the party’s statement reads.
