The number of flights handled in Lithuanian airspace in October 2018 reached 23.3 thousand and increased by 3.5 per cent, compared to the same period last year. Overflights made up 17.5 thousand, or 75 per cent of the total flight number.
The number of aircraft movements in Vilnius airport in October made up 4.4 thousand and increased by 6.1 per cent, compared to October 2017. The numbers of aircraft movements in Kaunas, Palanga and Šiauliai were respectively: 803 (more by 0.9 per cent, compared to last year), 374 (more by 8.8 per cent) and 205 (less by 22 per cent).
In October the largest number of flights in Lithuanian airspace was operated by five airlines: the Latvian company Air Baltic (2.3 thousand flights, or more by 9.7 per cent, compared to last year), the Finnish Finnair (2.1 thousand, or less by 1.6 per cent), the Russian Aeroflot (1.9 thousand, or more by 8.1 per cent), the German Lufthansa (1.7 thousand, or more by 3.3 per cent) and the Irish Ryanair (1.3 thousand, or more by 9.8 per cent).
In October 2018, compared to last year, five airlines – major users of Lithuanian airspace – remained the same, only the Latvian Air Baltic exceeded Finnair in flight number and came first.
