No Vibrio bacteria found in Lithuania

“We just received the test results, and they found no Vibrio bacteria on all beaches, and the other results are also good. The water is clean and people can bathe,” Aleksandras Siakki, head of the local institution Klaipėdos Papludimiai (Klaipėda Beaches), told BNS Lithuania on Tuesday.

The Center for Communicable Diseases and AIDS earlier cited information from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control that favorable conditions have developed since Aug. 3 for certain Vibrio bacteria to spread in some Baltic Sea coastal areas in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Poland and Lithuania.
