BNS Lithuania on Tuesday received a copy of the letter from Karbauskis’ spokeswoman Dalia Venceviciene. She said some parts of the document were blurred for personal information protection purposes.
Karbauskis turned to OLAF regarding suspected non-transparent use of EU funds for the TV show in late February, in response to media reports that Pirmoji Kava allegedly receives EU funding for the TV show via the Lithuanian National Radio and television (LRT), calls tenders which are eventually won by a sole participant, TV Play.
TV Play has been recently renamed Nord Play. Its manager Laurynas Šeškus told BNS Lithuania he has no information on a probe launched by OLAF.
“We know nothing about this, we are open people, we are right and know that it’s just political ado,” he said.
Lithuania’s Public Procurement Office also turned to the Prosecutor General’s Office two weeks ago regarding Pirmoji Kava’s public tenders for the TV shows broadcast on LRT.
The European Social Fund Agency, in charge of administrating EU financial support, is also looking into the TV show’s funding.
