Opposition suggests Lithuanian parliament speaker to re-evaluate her deputy

“Recently it has transpired that the Special Investigation Service (STT) submitted reports and additional information to the president and the prime minister about Vydas Gedvilas, First Deputy Speaker of the Seimas. When the president received this information she publicly stated that Gedvilas’ candidacy for the education and science minister cannot even be considered. After the STT submitted full information to the prime minister, Gedvilas himself refused to stand in as the ministerial candidate,” noted the leader of the Seimas Opposition.

Kubilius has urged the Seimas speaker to immediately request the STT for the exact same information on Gedvilas it had provided to the president and the prime minister. He proposed the Speaker to acquaint with the information and decide if Gedvilas could continue holding the position of First Deputy Speaker of the Seimas.
