The six-strong OSCE team, headed by Kimmo Robert Kiljunen of Finland, plan to stay in Lithuania until Oct. 15, Lithuania’s Central Electoral Commission (VRK) said.
Short-term observers also visited Lithuania during the general elections four years ago.
In addition to the OSCE mission, the VRK approved on Wednesday another 50 or so observers from different organizations.
The International Elections Study Center is bringing around 30 international observers to Lithuania, including seven activists from Russia’s Golos, 20 members of Poland’s Forum of Young Diplomats and three delegates of the Swedish International Liberal Centre.
The Seimas elections will be also observed by a Ukrainian observer from the European Center for Democracy Development and two observers from the Russian online media organization Molniya.
The VRK also granted a request from a married couple, both Russian citizens, living in Vilnius to observe the polls.
