Pagojus steps down from consumer watchdog chief, suspends SocDem membership

“I made the decision in light of the current situation, which prevents me from due performance of my duties in the position and can paralyze the work of the entire institution,” Pagojus said in a press release issued on Monday morning.

Last week, the country’s president had given a go-ahead to Pagojus’ nomination for justice minister in the Cabinet of Prime Minister-Designate Saulius Skvernelis. After the media revealed his conviction for drunk driving, the Social Democratic Party’s candidate withdrew his designation to the new coalition government of the Social Democratic Party and the Peasant and Green Union.
