PM decides against moving to official residence

“No, I will not move to the residence in Turniškės. I will stay where I live now. The current security situation allows me to make the decision. I fully trust the professionals – the officers of the VIP Protection Department who are doing a great job. If the department sees and says that the situation changes and that different decisions are needed – there will be different decisions,” Skvernelis said on his Facebook wall.

He said he does not want to become isolated during his term in the government, adding he wants to “live an ordinary life” as far as possible, attend events, sports matches, movies, theater and maintain contacts with his neighbors and community.

In Skvernelis’ words, the prime minister’s residence in Turniškės will be available for representation purposes, diplomatic receptions and similar events.

“I do not want to become isolated and I have no intentions of doing so. Finally – I do not feel to deserve the 600 square meter residence in Turniškės,” he added.
