PM doesn’t expect parliament’s fall session to be easy

“It’s already clear that it (the session) won’t simple and easy … (…) Three elections are approaching. Someone may be tempted to put aside the matters of the state and rush headlong into their personal political battles,” Skvernelis told the Seimas on Monday as he presented the program for the fall session.

The prime minister listed the adoption of next year’s budget, increasing the transparency of funding of political parties and political campaigns and reducing notary fees as the key tasks for the session.

“We face a difficult phase, but I’ll do my best to ensure that decisions that people in Lithuania are waiting for are made as swiftly as possible,” he said.

According to Skvernelis, the government will propose, among other things, to increase monthly child benefits, broaden family support measures and approve a demographic, migration and integration policy strategy for 2018-2030.

Viktoras Pranckietis, the speaker of the Seimas, said that the parliament should discuss almost 600 pieces of legislation during its fall session.
