“He has been discharged as having lost his political confidence,” Tomas Beržinskas, the prime minister’s spokesman, told BNS.
BNS was unable to get a hold of Garasimavičius on Friday. He has also served as energy adviser to the earlier Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius of the Social Democrats.
Earlier this week, Garasimavičius testified to the parliament’s National Security and Defence Committee in the framework of the probe of possible unlawful influence by individuals, business entities and other groups of interests upon state institutions and political processes.
Garasimačius told about his visit to the shutdown Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant as part of the Butkevičius-led delegation and a meeting with representatives of Russia’s Nukem and Rosatom companies.
