Nevertheless, he expressed hope that a cooperation agreement with the Social Democrats’ political group would be signed shortly.
“I think that this is a short-sighted decision. The argumentation that had leaked to the public and the resolution are fully demagogic. Speaking about cooperation, there are indeed no reasons to say that the Social Democrats could not implement their program provisions,” the head of the government told BNS on Saturday.
He emphasized that the government program had been jointly worked out by the LFGU and the Social Democrats. On the other hand, Skvernelis said the Social Democrats’ move was respectable, noting it did not come as a major surprise.
In the prime minister’s words, the Social Democratic party had fallen hostage to the ambitions of its leader Gintautas Paluckas who had forced the party to decide on leaving the coalition with LFGU.
“The state almost became hostage of ambitions of one individual. The man managed to direct the party to this path. History will show whether the patch was correct and successful,” said Skvernelis.
