PM Skvernelis in Germany to meet with Chancellor Merkel

Skvernelis arrived in Berlin on Wednesday evening on his fourth foreign visit since he took office in December.

During their bilateral meting, Skvernelis and Merkel are expected to discuss the EU’s future amid growing concern that the bloc’s unity may be undermined by Britain’s decision to leave the bloc, Russia’s aggressive behavior, the danger of radical Islamism and uncertainty over the US foreign policies.

The Lithuanian prime minister will seek Germany‘s support for the planned synchronization of the Baltic power transmission grids with the Western European system and will underscore the government’s concern over the safety of the Astravyets nuclear power plant under construction in Belarus, diplomats said.
